Founded in 2022, Leading colleges will develop a comprehensive list of colleges that uniquely focus on student success. While each member institution offers their own strengths and opportunities, the comprehensive list generates an overview of the nation’s best educational opportunities for students from a range of interests and disciplines.
Designed as an alternative to “pay for rank” listing services, Leading Colleges operates on a strict industry nomination model. Membership approval will be contingent on the recommendation of a school counselor, peer institution colleague referral, or independent counselor endorsement. This requirement is necessary to protect the integrity of the listing and the elite status of each member institution
Educational institutions are selected for membership within Leading Colleges based on the following criteria:
- Transparent, ethical, and fair recruiting practices
- Attention to social justice and institutional equity
- Retention rates outpacing their peers
- Student outcomes demonstrating the value of higher education
